(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHHIP, ON) – Today at approximately 10:02 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded along with the Guelph Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a report of a plane crash at the Guelph Airpark located on Skyway Drive in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
Investigation revealed that a 74-year-male pilot from Mississauga was attempting to take take-off when he realized he was in the taxi lane and quickly veered to the right to avoid a collision with another plane. The homebuilt Cessna aircraft struck the wooden guardrail causing moderate damage to the frontend.
The male pilot was transported to a local hospital by land ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) and the Transportation Safety Board. (TSB) were notified of the incident.
