(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment is investigating an incident at a West Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at approximately 12:17 p.m., police received a report of an attempted robbery.
Through investigation it was determined that a 74-year-old female of St Catherines, Ontario was entering her vehicle located in the parking lot of the Simcoe Town Shopping Centre when an unknown male approached and forcibly removed the senior’s purse from her shoulder.
The male began to flee westbound through the parking lot at which time the victim threw a can of tuna striking the male in the back causing him to drop the purse.
The male continued to run westbound and was last seen heading towards Metcalfe Street. The purse was recovered by the owner who then contacted police.
The suspect is described as male, mid 20’s, wearing a baseball cap and dark t-shirt.
Police are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has information that can assist with the investigation or can identify the male, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
