(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment and Norfolk County Fire Service attended a fatal pedestrian collision at a Hwy #24, Waterford, Norfolk County, ON address.
Today, Monday December 14th, 2015 at approximately 5:30 pm Police were called to a pedestrian collision in front of early house fire which Emergency Services had just started to clear from.
Investigation revealed that the deceased pedestrian a 73 year old woman from Norfolk County, ON had been travelling southbound on Hwy #24 with an acquaintance when they stopped their vehicle on the roadside across from the fire scene to offer assistance to the fire victim that were known to them. As the 73 year was crossing the road she was struck by a northbound Saturn car being driven by a 41 year old Brantford, ON woman. As a result of the collision the 73 year old woman sustained fatal injuries.
The 41 year old driver was transported to hospital by Norfolk County Paramedics as a precaution. No physical injuries were reported.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Hwy #24 is closed from Windham Concession Road #7 to Windham Concession Road #8 to allow for investigation.
Victim Services of Haldimand / Norfolk / New Credit are assisting with the involved.
