Location: HIGHLAND RD E and HEIMAN ST, KITCHENER ON Canada
On the 8th of October 2015, at approximately 2:50 pm, a hit and run collision occurred at the intersection of Highland Road East at Heiman Street, in the city of Kitchener. A black vehicle, possibly a Chrysler turned left from Heiman Street onto Highland Road cutting off a second vehicle. After a series of collisions with other vehicles and objects, a Canada Post mailbox was struck. The mailbox was vaulted into a 73 year old pedestrian walking on the sidewalk who sustained major injuries. Other drivers were treated for minor injuries. The Black vehicle, possibly a Chrysler, failed to remain at the scene of the collision, and was last seen westbound on Highland Road towards Stirling Avenue, Kitchener. On October 11, 2015, John GAUDET, 73, from Kitchener, the pedestrian involved in the above collision died in hospital. Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services is appealing to anyone with information and asking them to contact 519-653-7700 extension 8719 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
