71 Year Old Offers False Identification At Traffic Stop Gets Arrested

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On December 20, 2014, just after 2:30 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a Lexus car for a traffic violation on Highway 401 eastbound near Communication Road.

During the traffic stop, the driver provided the officer with verbal identification, which later proved to be a false identification. Subsequent OPP investigation revealed the true identity of the driver, 71 year old Phillip SHRON, from Lafontaine, ON.

The driver was arrested and charged with the following:

Personation With Intent To Avoid Arrest, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Obstruct Peace Officer, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Fail To Surrender Permit For Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Use Plate Not Authorized For Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Fail To Surrender Insurance Card, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on December 24, 2014, to answer to the charges.
