(NORTH BAY, ON) – On April 18, 2016, at approximately 11:30 a.m., North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was informed of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, City of North Bay.
A tractor trailer transporting non-hazardous material travelling westbound on Highway 17 took the southbound ramp onto Highway 11 when it went over the railing and down the steep embankment.
North Bay Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by North Bay and District Ambulance Service.
The driver, a 70 year old male from Gatineau, Quebec, was charged with careless driving contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
The ramp will be closed sometime today to remove the tractor trailer.
