7 Year Old Playing On Rock Cliff Falls 30 Feet At Rockwood GRCA

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 6, 2015 at approximately 4:48 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a medical assist call at the Grand River Conservation Area (GRCA) in Rockwood, Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Investigation revealed that a seven-year-old boy was playing with his five-year-old brother on a rock cliff when he lost his footing and slid off the rock facing which was approximately 30 feet in height and landed on a gravel path below. The child was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital and subsequently transferred to a Hamilton Hospital in critical condition.

He is now in stable condition.

Foul play is not suspected.
