On May 25th, 2015 at approximately 2:15pm, Owen Sound Police Services, Owen Sound Fire Services and Paramedics responded to the intersection of 2nd Avenue East and 9th Street East for a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, Emergency Services found a 69 year old female lying unconscious on the roadway being cared for by bystanders. The female was rushed to hospital by Paramedics, suffering from significant face and head injuries.
The investigation revealed that injured female had been crossing 2nd Avenue East at 9th Street East when she was struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn from 9th Street East onto 2nd Avenue East.
2nd Avenue East, between 9th Street and 8th Street, was closed for approximately 2 hours while the scene was examined by police. 2nd Avenue East has since been re-opened.
Although a number of witnesses have been spoken to, police would like to speak to any other people who witnessed the incident. Those people are asked to contact the investigating officer, Cst. Martin at 519-376-1234, extension 173.
The injured female is currently listed in stable condition. She will remain in hospital for observations and for treatment of injuries.
The investigation is continuing and it has not yet been determined if charges are going to be laid.
