61 Year Old Careless Driver Charged

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On February 2, 2016 at approximately 12:43 pm, officers of the Highway Safety Division (HSD) and the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 61 and Chippewa Road.

Investigation revealed that the driver of a southbound vehicle on Chippewa Road was approaching Highway 61 when it failed to negotiate the turn and struck the median that divides north and southbound traffic. At that point the vehicle became airborne and impacted a second vehicle that was exiting the off ramp from Highway 61 onto Chippewa road. The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passengers in the second vehicle were not injured.

Roseamund Keeping, 61, of Thunder Bay has been charged with Careless Driving contrary to Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act as well as Drive while suspended contrary to Section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
