6 Year Old Child Struck By Car After Exiting Bus

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On March 21, 2018, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Wellington Road 8, west of Sideroad 18, near Drayton. Initial reports indicated a 6-year-old girl suffered moderate, non-life-threatening injuries when stuck by a sedan. The child was crossing the highway after exiting off a school bus. Mapleton Fire/Rescue along with Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service attended. The child was transported to local hospital with minor injuries.

OPP are investigating many elements of the collision including the operation of the busses warning light system. Charges may be pending.

The road has been reopened.
