(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On June 2, 2015, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop that resulted in the arrest of two persons along with a loaded firearm being seized.
As the result of an on-going investigation members of the OPP’s crime unit and drug enforcement unit stopped a vehicle on St. George Street in Lindsay. Officers located a loaded firearm inside the vehicle. Also found in the vehicle was OxyContin, steroids and approximately 6oz. of cocaine, all of which were seized.
Further investigation resulted in a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant being executed at a property in Bridgenorth which resulted in more steroids being seized.
Kassandra MCINNES, 23 years of age, of Selwyn Township, was charged with the following offences:
Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the CDSA
Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5 000, contrary to the Criminal Code
Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to the Criminal code
Jesse THOMSON, 25 years of age, of Selwyn Township, was charged with the following offences:
Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the CDSA
Possession of marihuana, under 30 grams
Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to the Criminal Code
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to the Criminal code
Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
