(TEMAGAMI, ON) – On March 30, 2016 members of the Temagami Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere Program (RIDE) on Highway 11, Temagami.
Shortly after 4:00 p.m. a van approached the RIDE Program and through investigation the 58-year-old driver was arrested and is currently facing charges under the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA). Police seized 534,200 unmarked cigarettes with an approximate street value of more than $200,000.

Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale – section 29(1) of the TTA
Possess unmarked cigarettes – section 29(2) of the TTA
The defendant will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on June 23, 2016.
