(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is investigating the theft of fuel from a Front Road, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.
On Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at approximately 10:04 a.m., police received a call from a concerned resident reporting a theft of fuel.
Through the course of investigation it was determined that between Wednesday, December 16, 2015 and Wednesday, December 23, 2015, unknowns attended the address and proceeded to drive a motor vehicle to the rear of the property where they located fuel tanks stored behind the residence. Unknowns then removed a large quantity of gasoline and coloured diesel fuel from the storage tanks.
The theft is estimated at approximately $4,000 dollars.
Businesses and farms with large fuel storage should make sure pumps and the access to the storage tanks are secured with heavy duty locks. If the location is isolated and unsupervised for long periods of time, consider installing lights and security cameras.
