33 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving Cherry Picker

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A North Huron resident is facing Impaired Operation charges after he was caught by police this weekend driving a telehandler (cherry picker) while impaired by alcohol.

On Friday, June 5, 2020 at approximately 6:08 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was investigating an unrelated incident on Reid Road south of Wingham when a driver approached the officer operating a telehandler (cherry picker). While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. The driver provided two samples of his breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both of his samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Jeremy HESSELS, 33 years of age, from North Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80) Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

His licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and his vehicle has been towed and impounded.
