(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 32-year-old from South Huron has been arrested and is facing three criminal charges following an impaired driving crash that took place over the weekend.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to attend a single motor vehicle collision that took place on Bronson Line.
Upon arrival officers located a Dodge Dakota pickup truck in the west ditch on Bronson Line. While speaking with the male driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath, additionally, the driver was displaying several signs that his ability to drive was impaired by alcohol.
As a result he was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
A search incident to arrest also resulted in officers locating and seizing a quantity of marihuana from inside the vehicle.
Darren GLAVIN, 32 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana. He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 8, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was towed and impounded.
