(PERTH COUNTY, ON) Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers experienced a busy weekend as a result of snowfall and motorists not adjusting their driving to the road conditions.
On Friday November 14, 2014 alone, officers responded to 32 collisions on OPP patrolled roadways within the county.
In addition to high number of collisions, officers still conducted RIDE (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) programs in seven locations throughout the county. At one of these RIDE programs, at the intersection of Wallace Ave. North and McDonald St. East in Listowel, officers stopped a vehicle around 11 p.m. and conducted a roadside breath test on the driver. The driver failed the test, and also failed two subsequent Intoxilyzer breath test at the North Perth OPP Detachment in Listowel.
Donald HANEY (61) of the Municipality of North Perth has been charged with “driving with more than 08 mgs. of alcohol in bloodâ€Â, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Listowel on December 10, 2014, to answer to this charge. He was issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
