(BRIGHTON, ON) At approximately 8:35 am on Thursday, September 5, 2013 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended to a location for a local painting business that had been broken into overnight and had a large quantity of painting equipment stolen.
An OPP officer attended and spoke with the male victim who told police that his employees arrived at an unoccupied lot on Scriver Road, east of the Town of Brighton at about 7:00 am where they found that the industrial garage located on the lot had appeared to have been entered through the front sliding doors. The employees found the interior had been disturbed and contacted OPP.
An inventory of items stolen determined that assorted painting equipment items had been taken including two “Grayco†paint sprayers valued at $5,000 each. Unrelated painting business items also taken from inside the garage include assorted tools and tool box valued at about $1,000, a 9†“Blast Track†grinder with diamond wheel valued at $1,720, a “Park Pickle†brand snow board valued at $1,400 and two sets of golf clubs valued at $800 each.
The OPP Forensic Identification Service Unit (FISU) from Peterborough was contacted to assist with this investigation. The estimated total loss of property is $25,000 – $30,000.
