(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment received a report of a mischief at a Junction Road, Haldimand County, Ontario address.
On Saturday, May 7, 2016 at approximately 8:20 a.m., police received a report of a mischief to a John Deere 590 excavator.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that between Thursday, May 5, 2016 and Saturday, May 7, 2016, unknowns attended the address and proceeded to enter an excavator located on the property. Once inside, unknowns placed an item on the accelerator resulting in the machine engaging in drive. It was then driven into a deep ditch resulting in the excavator flipping over on its side. The cab was partially submerged in water however no one was located inside when police entered the cab.
The excavator was up righted and it was determined that the machine was intentionally started and placed into gear.
The damage is estimated at approximately $25,000 dollars.
