(SMITHS FALLS, ON) On Sunday April 2, 2017, at approximately 3:19 a.m., the Tyendinaga Police Service received a 911 call regarding a male injured at a residence on Deserontyon Drive, Tyendinaga-Mohawk First Nation Territory.
Kenneth Ferrill, a 43-year old male from the Tyendinaga Mohawk First Nation Territory, sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
On April 2, 2017, 25-year old, Brandon Phillip George BAPTISTE of Belleville, ON was arrested and is currently charged under the Criminal Code with First Degree Murder, Pointing A Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. On April 3, 2017 the accused attended Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, ON and was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
The Napanee OPP Crime Unit and Tyendinaga Police Service, under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are continuing with the investigation.
