(COLLINGWOOD, ON) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist with a drinking and driving offence as a result of a collision investigation over the course of the weekend.
On March 5 2015 at approximately 7:00pm, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Grey Road 19 and Mountain Road. Investigation found that a west bound pickup truck failed to stop at a red light and in doing so collided with a north bound vehicle. The driver of the pickup was subjected to a roadside breath test which resulted in a ‘fail’ reading and led to his arrest and transport to Collingwood detachment for processing.
Charged is 24 year-old Maxime VILLENEUVE of West Nipissing Ontario. He is facing a charge of driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood under the Criminal Code and a charge of red light – fail to stop under the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on March 29 2016.
