(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 12, 2015 at approximately 2:25 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a 2010 Dodge Charger exit a parking lot on Main Street in Mount Forest, Wellington North Township in an erratic manner. Officers followed the vehicle as it continued to accelerate on to King Street where a traffic stop was conducted a short time later as the vehicle was spinning in circles in a private gravel parking lot.
Police spoke with the male driver and detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and noted obvious signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
23-year-old Jacob FERRIER of Wellington North Township has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 29, 2015 to answer to his charges.
