23 Year Old Arrested For Armed Home Invasion

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 23-year-old male with several criminal code offences after a forced home entry resulted in the resident of the home being assaulted. The incident occurred at an Argyle Street South, Caledonia, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Monday February 6, 2017 at 5:57 p.m., OPP and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Argyle Street South for a an assault where it was reported a male suspect forced entry into a residence and assaulted the male occupant before fleeing the residence.

OPP investigation determined that the male suspect attended the residence and forced entry inside where he confronted the victim with an alleged wooden object. The two males, whom are known to one another, became involved in a physical altercation and the victim was able to take the weapon away from the suspect before the suspect fled the area.

The victim was not injured during the altercation.

OPP located the suspect a short distance away where he was arrested without incident.

OPP has charged 23-year-old Tyler DOUGLAS of Caledonia, Ontario with:

Break and enter a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence,

Assault with a weapon, and

Mischief under $5,000

He was held to appear for a bail hearing in Provincial Court Cayuga.
