23 Collisions In Two Days

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS) –

Over the last two days, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police e (OPP), investigated 23 motor vehicle collisions on area roads. These collisions included non-reportable, reportable, and some involved injuries to persons involved.

The full swing of winter has arrived and the OPP want to remind motorists to use extra caution while driving as circumstances can change driving conditions rapidly. We suggest that if you are travelling to watch weather forecasts at both departure location and destination so you are not caught by surprise.

The OPP would also like to remind motorists to be extra vigilant, while driving on municipal roadways, for children who because of the cold weather will be bundled up and will have limited visibility and hearing because of this. Roadways are narrower because of high snow banks and children often walk on the roadway if sidewalks are snow covered.

Vehicle maintenance is also a very important part of winter driving. Ensure that fluid levels are topped up, tires properly inflated and windows cleared of snow and ice to provide maximum visibility.

Please be aware of road conditions, exercise extra caution and arrive safely.
