(BLUEWATER, ON) – Evidently sometimes people just have to learn the hard way. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers have seen it far too often where drivers fail to obey road closure signs and end up getting themselves into some dangerous situations.
Case in point, early Tuesday morning around 12:46 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to single motor vehicle crash that took place on Airport Line near Dashwood Road. At the time of the crash, the roadway was closed, with road closure signs in place.
However, one 22-year-old driver from Huron East chose to disobey the road closed sign and proceeded southbound on Airport Line. Unfortunately he was unable to avoid colliding with a very large tree that had fallen and was covering the roadway. To make matters worse there were downed hydro wires in the immediate area. He escaped injury, however his brand new vehicle was demolished and he is now facing charges of Careless Driving & Drive on Closed Highway.
