22 Year Old Caught Going 100+ Over Speed Limit – Vehicle Impounded

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) -On Saturday August 5, 2017 at 4:47 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a northbound 2016 silver Ford Mustang, which appeared to be operating above the speed limit on 6 Highway at Lawrence Road, in the Municipality of Bruce Peninsula. The vehicle speed was initially locked in at 147 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. After passing the Police cruiser, which was southbound at the time, the mustang increased it speeds and was locked in at 187 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. There were three other occupants in the vehicle.

A 22-year-old driver from Toronto, Ontario, has been charged with race a motor vehicle and dangerous drive. Police seized and impounded the vehicle for seven days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for 7 days. He is scheduled to appear at the Owen Sound Court of Justice on September 21, 2017 to answer to the charge.
