During the late hours of Saturday night and early Sunday morning of this past weekend, several incidents of mischief to property occurred in the area of 9th Street and 5th Avenue East, Owen Sound. The mischief included overturned and damaged barbeques, broken outdoor furniture and a broken window and fencing at the four residences involved. The total value of the damage is believed to be over $1000.00.
Police investigated the incidents on Sunday and collected several items of evidence. On Monday, April 25, 2016, a member of the Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit that was working during the weekend investigated a male he had observed in the area around the time of the incidents. This investigation led to the arrest of the male and subsequently charges being laid.
The man additionally had a small quantity of suspected heroin in his possession at the time of the arrest. A 22 year old man from Owen Sound has been charged with 4 counts of mischief and possession of a controlled substance. The residences involved were not specifically targeted by the male and alcohol was a factor in the incident. The man was released from custody and will appear in court on June 2nd.
