21 Year Old Stunt Driver Charaged

(ESPANOLA, ON)- On October 30, 2016, members from the Espanola Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol on Highway 17, in the township of Sables-Spanish Rivers.

At approximately 3:55 a.m., a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.

The driver, Dorukhan CAGLIN, 21 years of age, from Burlington, was charged with the following

Race a motor vehicle – Excessive speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act

Fail to sign ownership in ink, contrary to section 8(1) of Highway Traffic Act

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on December 8, 2016.

Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
