21 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving & Breach Charges

(NORTHEASTERN MANITOULIN & THE ISLANDS TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Friday December 4, 2015 at 11:45 pm The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting an R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Enforcement) stop check on Bidwell Road and Rockville Road in NEMI Township, Ontario. A red Ford Explorer truck approached the check and upon seeing the emergency lights stopped and attempted to turn around. The officer intercepted the vehicle and talking with the driver a strong odour of alcohol was detected. Further investigation reveals the driver was on a recognizance from court to abide by a curfew and non-consumption of alcohol.

As a result of this investigation the driver of the vehicle Michael James OSHKABEWISENS age 21 of Wikemikong First Nation, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following offenses.

Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Having Care or Control over 80 milligrams of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Breach of Recognizance ( 2 Counts ) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is being held in custody pending an appearance in Ontario Bail Court on Monday December 07, 2015 in Gore Bay Ontario.
