(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On November 8, 2015, members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol on Highway 69 in Carling Township. At approximately 9:00 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a northbound car that was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. Police investigation and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of more than a pound of cannabis marihuana.
The driver, Sebastian MORGENROTH, 21 years of age from Niagara, was arrested and charged with:
Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – over 30 grams as per the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – under 3 kilograms (kg) as per the CDSA.
The accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.
