20 Year Old Repeat Offender Caught With Stolen Fertilizer Spreader

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A chance encounter between a thief and an alert witness has led to the recovery of a fertilizer spreader valued at $7,000.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. on July 18, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a citizen that reported he was following a vehicle on Babylon Line that was towing a fertilizer spreader that was believed to be stolen. The observant witness recognized the spreader to belong to one of his friends.

The witness was able to catch up to the vehicle and was able to get the driver’s attention. Once the vehicle was stopped, the witness and the suspect had a brief conversation until the suspect disconnected the spreader and took off. The thief fled the area and the witness lost sight of the suspect.

It didn’t take long for officers to identify the suspect; a warrant was signed and the suspect was arrested five days later.
