20 Year Old Hit And Run Driver Facing Numerous Charges

(FRENCH RIVER, ON) – On June 05, 2016, members of the Warren and Noelville Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 575 in the West Nipissing area. One of the vehicles involved was described as a green Mazda truck, which fled the scene. A description of the driver was obtained and a warrant was then sought for the driver.

On December 27, 2016, Tremen James BOLTON, age 20 from Guelph, ON, attended the Noelville OPP Detachment and turned himself in as the driver of the truck. He was arrested and charged with:

Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident, contrary to section 252(1.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada;

Fail to Remain, contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act;

Careless Driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act;

Operate a Motor vehicle Without Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act; and

Fail to Disclose Particulars of Insurance, contrary to section 4(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in West Nipissing on January 16, 2017.
