(WASAGA BEACH, ON) Officers from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two males last weekend in relation to an assault investigation in the town of Wasaga Beach.
On August 6 2016 at approximately 1:20am, officers were dispatched to an assault in progress on Main Street near Glenwood Drive in Wasaga Beach. Investigation found that two groups of people became involved in a verbal altercation. This turned physical and led to one person producing a weapon, described as a metal centre punch.
The suspects in the incident had fled the scene prior to police arrival however police were able to identify them leading to their eventual arrest. The victim in the assault was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening.
Charged are: Sebastien GROOMSBRIDGE, 22 years of age, from Wasaga Beach. He is facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. Gary SILCOTT, 20 years of age from Wasaga Beach faces charges of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of breach of recognizance.
Both accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Barrie.
