(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated and incident at a Queen Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at approximately 12:55 pm, a Norfolk County officer was alerted by a citizen that a 2-year-old child had fallen out of a second story window.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that child climbed a dresser located in his room near a window. It appears that he leaned against the screen and subsequently fell from the second story window landing on the concrete below.
Norfolk County Paramedics transported the child to a local area hospital with minor injuries.
This incident was not suspicious or criminal in nature that would require further police involvement. The Haldimand and Norfolk Children’s Aid Society have been notified.
“Police are reminding all parents and caregivers to have child safety locking devices on all windows that children may be able to reach as screens aren’t enough to keep kids from falling. Also you will want to keep furniture away from windows, to discourage children from climbing near any windows that may present a danger.” – Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
