(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an incident after officers located two small children in a vehicle at a Queensway East, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Monday, June 15, 2015 at approximately 4:48 p.m., police observed a motor vehicle parked in the Winners parking lot with two small children located in the front seat of the vehicle.
Through investigation it was determined that a 4 year old female and a two (2) year old male were locked inside the vehicle while it was running with no adult supervision.
Police remained on scene until the children’s parent arrived at the vehicle. Both children were in good health and police are reminding all parents and caregivers to never leave their children unattended.
“The OPP want to remind all parents or caregivers that at no time during the year should any child be left alone in a vehicle, no matter how quickly you think that errand will be. Leaving a child unattended in a vehicle goes beyond the weather conditions and the safety and well-being of a child should always be the top priority,” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
