(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating a recent theft of a snowmobile that was stolen from a property located in Blyth. Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on January 1, 2017 the thief entered onto the North Street property and located two snowmobiles that were being stored outside underneath a tarp.
The thief managed to start up and drive away on one of the Polaris snowmobiles. The thief damaged the ignition switch on the other machine however was unsuccessful in starting up the second machine.
The tracks from the stolen sled were followed onto London Road and Thuell Street however they were lost in a field toward the water treatment plant.
The stolen snowmobile is described as a black 1999 Polaris XC 500 cc, with an after-market two-up seating system. The stolen snowmobile is valued at approximately $2500.
