19 Year Old Wanted By Police Arrested In Meaford

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On May 7, 2016 at approximately 5:51 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a blue Mitsubishi vehicle that was associated to a male wanted on outstanding warrants for criminal offences on Hwy. 26 near the 7th Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

Almost immediately after the suspect vehicle had come to a stop, it sped away heading eastbound on Hwy. 26. Police proceeded after the vehicle for a short distance then terminated their pursuit in the interest of public safety, as the vehicle was approaching the Town of Meaford. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was found abandoned, idling in the ditch on Hwy. 26 and Ridge Road.

With the assistance of witnesses who observed the driver fleeing on foot, police were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without further incident.

19-year old Jonathan Clinton CRONK, of the Municipality of Meaford, is scheduled to appear in Court in Owen Sound on June 2, 2016 on the following charges:

– Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent (CC)

– Flight While Pursued by a Peace Officer (CC)

– Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle (CC)

– Driving While Under Suspension (HTA)

He was turned over to the Owen Sound Police Service on their outstanding warrants.
