19 Year Old Flees From Police Then Causes Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment has charged a 19 year old with Criminal offences after a vehicle failed to stop for police at a Highway (Hwy) #6, Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON address.

On Tuesday January 6th, 2015 at approximately 11:58 pm Police attempted to stop a green 1993 Honda car for erratic driving on Hwy #6. Emergency lights were activated on the Police cruiser to signal the Honda car to stop. The car failed to stop and headed towards Hamilton at a high rate of speed. Due to public safety concerns the emergency lights were deactivated and the following discontinued.

A short time later a single motor vehicle collision on Trinity Church Road, Hamilton, ON was reported to Hamilton Police Service. The vehicle involved was the Honda car which had fled from Haldimand County OPP officers.

The 19 year old driver of the Honda car identified as Dillon MCGREAL of Haldimand County, ON was arrested and has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer. He is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga, ON at a later date to answer to the charges.
