19 Year Old Female Rear Ends Transport Truck Airlifted To Hospital

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON.) Officers from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have now re-opened Highway 26 between Horseshoe Valley Road and Fralick Road. The highway was closed for some time as a result of a crash involving two vehicles in that area.

At approximately 8:30am this morning, OPP received a call for service in regards to a two vehicle crash where one driver was trapped in a vehicle. Investigation found that an east bound heavy flatbed truck was stopped for construction work on the roadway behind several other vehicles in the east bound lane. For unknown reason(s), an east bound Nissan 4 door vehicle rear ended the truck causing extensive damage to the Nissan car and trapping the driver inside, who was the lone occupant of the car.

Clearview Fire Department attended and extricated the 19 year-old female driver who was subsequently air lifted to a Toronto area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. OPP Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene to document the crash and determine the cause of the collision. Investigation is ongoing.
