(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) Officers from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist with a drug possession related offence as a result of a vehicle stop yesterday in Wasaga Beach.
On the 6th of July 2015 at approximately 10:45am, an officer on patrols conducted a vehicle stop on Main Street in regards to a vehicle occupant not wearing their seat belt. During interactions with the 5 occupants of the vehicle, the officer detected an odour of marihuana and observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Further investigation led to the officers locating and seizing approximately 100 grams of cannabis marihuana and drug paraphernalia and the arrest of one male who was subsequently transported to Huronia West detachment for processing.
Charged is 19 year-old Patrick DARLING of Oshawa, he is facing a charge of possession of cannabis marihuana – over 30 grams and is to appear in Collingwood court on the 11th of August 2015.
One of the occupants was also charged with a Highway Traffic Act offence of passenger – fail to properly wear seat belt.
