(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at approximately 3:27 p.m., members of Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check at the intersection of Grey Rd. 9 and Grey Rd. 8 in the Township of Southgate.
A strong odour of marihuana was detected and drug paraphernalia was observed in plain view of a 2000 Honda Civic which had stopped at the R.I.D.E. checkpoint.
The lone driver of the vehicle, Troy Alexander ELLIS, 19, of the Township of Southgate, was charged with possession of cannabis marihuana – under 30 grams and possession of Cannabis resin – under 1 gram contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, February 12, 2015.
