(HURON EAST, ON) – A 19-year-old from London has been charged with Racing following a traffic stop that took place last week on London Road.
At about 11:18 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling southbound on London Road south of Vanastra when he observed a small sedan travelling northbound at a high rate of speed. A RADAR device was used to confirm his observations and the vehicle’s speed was measured at a rate of speed of nearly 80 km/h over the 80 km/h speed limit.
A traffic stop was completed and the 19-year-old male driver from London was charged with Racing. It turns out the driver and his three passengers were all running late for their scheduled road tests at the Clinton Driver’s Licence Examination Centre.
Needless to say a vehicle and a valid licence is a requirement to take a road test.
They also had to pay for a cab ride home to London, the driver will also have to return for a court date later this May, his licence was suspended for a week, additionally, should the driver be found guilty he will incur 6 demerit points and an insurance premium increase.
