18 Year Old Caught Doing 140 in an 80

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday December 31, 2011 a Perth County OPP officer stopped a young male driver who was travelling at an extremely high rate of speed.

While the officer was patrolling Hwy 23 near Line 39 (north of Mitchell), a fast moving car was observed. The officer activated the police radar and locked in the cars speed at 140 km/h which is 60 km above the 80 km/h posted speed limit. The 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was pulled over and the 18 year old male from St.Marys was issued a summons for “racing a motor vehicle”. He is to appear in Stratford Court on February 14, 2012 to answer to this charge. The male’s driver’s licence was seized and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
