The Guelph Police Service participated in Operation Impact from October 5 to 8, 2012. This National Road Safety Campaign is designed to focus on driving behaviours that put drivers, passengers, and other road users most at risk by impaired driving, distracted driving, seat belt use, and all aspects related to aggressive driving.
Guelph Police Service Operation Impact Stats:
• 179 Aggressive driving charges (including speeding, red lights, Careless Driving)
• 2 Seatbelt charges
• 3 Impaired driving charges
• 1 7-Day suspension for driving while suspended
• RIDE was conducted over the weekend, with over 700 vehicles checked….one arrest for Refuse breath sample, resulting in a 7-day vehicle seizure and a 90- day licence suspension.
Operation Impact is endorsed by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and Transport Canada and is part of Road Safety Vision 2015, which has a goal of making Canada’s roads the safest in the world by 2015.
