17 Year Old Faces Assault Police Officer Charge

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Friday November 15, 2013 at around 2:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of a youth that may be intoxicated was yelling and knocking over things at the Huntsville Place Mall.

Huntsville detachment members located a 17 year old male from Huntsville at the mall and it was clear that he had been drinking. The youth was arrested for the offence and during his arrest the officers located marijuana on him.

While the accused was being driven to the Huntsville detachment he spit on the officer. As a result the 17 year old has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place, and being under the age of 19 years consuming alcohol under the Liquor Licence act. He has also been charged with possession of a schedule II substance – marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act and Assault Peace Officer under the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused will appear in Youth Court on December 3, 2013 in Huntsville to answer to his charges.
