(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Highway Enforcement Team have charged a 17-year-old male with stunt driving after police stopped a motor vehicle at a Highway 403, County of Brant, Ontario address.
On Monday, August 23, 2015 at approximately 12:32 a.m., police observed a motor vehicle that appeared to be travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 403 at Jerseyville Road. The motor vehicle ran through radar and recorded a reading of 157 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
Police have charged a 17-year-old from Brantford, Ontario with stunt driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
“Driving over the speed limit, especially 50 km/h and above, can seriously limit the ability to maneuver the vehicle, you think you’re in control, but if you have to take evasive action for any reason, you may not be able to regain control of the vehicle,” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Brant County OPP.
OPP are reminding all motorists that the minimum fine for Stunt Driving, if convicted is $2,000 and an automatic drivers licence suspension for 7 days.
He is to appear in Provincial Court, Brantford, Ontario at a later date to answer to the charge.
