(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – This morning at approximately 2 am officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle, fail to remain motor vehicle crash on Glenarm Road. The vehicle left the roadway, damaged the caller’s fence and then continued without stopping.
After an investigation the vehicle was located in Fenelon Falls and the driver, a 17 year old male youth from Richmond Hill, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving While Ability Impaired by Drug contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident contrary to section 252 of the CCC
Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) of the CCC
Possession of a Forged Document contrary to section 368(1)(d) of the CCC
Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver contrary to section 5(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) Regulation 340/94
Fail to Report Damage to Property on Highway contrary to section 201 HTA
Fail to Notify Change of Address contrary to section 9(2) of the HTA
The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
