(CHATHAM, ON) On November 19, 2016 around 1:40 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Moraviantown First Nation.
Preliminary investigation reveals a Chrysler 300 had turned south onto Centre Street when the vehicle struck three pedestrians who were walking on the road. The three pedestrians, a 24-year-old male, a 17-year-old female, and a 16-year-old female, all from Moraviantown First Nation, were transported to an area hospital.
As a result of the collision, the 16 year-old female has succumbed to her injuries and the 24-year-old male pedestrian has been transferred to a London Hospital. The 17-year-old female suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital.
The driver of the motor vehicle, a 21-year-old male from Moraviantown First Nation was not injured.
OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) are currently on scene investigating the collision.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending next of kin notification.
Centre Road between River Line and School House Line will be closed for several hours as the investigation continues.
