(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH) – At approximately 12:15 am, Saturday, November 26, 2016, members of the Nottawasaqa Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were conducting a R.I.D.E. checkpoint on Industrial Parkway (Alliston). An approaching vehicle was directed to stop, and failed to do so.
The vehicle fled the scene at speeds in excess of 100km/hr in a 60 km/hr speed zone. In the attempt to evade police, the vehicle became stuck in a farm field on the 12th Line of New Tecumseth. Two (2) sixteen year old males were arrested. One youth is a resident of Alliston and the other a resident of Woodbridge.
Charges include, Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle, Flight from Police, Mischief and Take motor vehicle without owner’s consent. Several Highway Traffic Act charges were laid as well with respect to being unlicensed.
The motor vehicle was impounded.
