$15,000 Golden Eagle Stolen

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On Sunday January 28, 2018 Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft at an aviary on First Line, north-east of Acton. Sometime between January 27 and January 28, 2018, unknown suspects entered the facility and stole a Golden Eagle valued at approximately $15,000.

The Eagle, known as Riff-Raff, is brown with white flecks and approximately 3 years old, 76 cm (2-1/2) tall and 6 kg (13lbs). While the eagle is a show & demonstration bird it is not a pet and should not be approached.

It is believed the thief would have extensive knowledge and training to handle a bird this size. There are no indications that this was an act of protest.

OPP is asking one with information regarding this incident to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous
