(MAGNETAWAN TWP) On Friday November 15, 2013 at 12:30p.m officers from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police, Northeast Region Highway Safety Division along with with the Ministry of Natural Resources conducted a R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) at Highway 124 and Stayners Road, Magnetawan Township.
Officers checked in excess of 150 vehicles at this location and the results were 1 driver was charged with driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario, 1 driver was issued a 3 day licence suspension after registering a “warn†on a road side screening device for alcohol content. And 1 driver was charged with driving while under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
Police are encouraged by the high compliance rate of motorists following the laws.
